Grocery Shopping

I went shopping today... I spend OVER my budget. I have to warn you. BUT- I got A TON of stuff. A lot of things for Thanksgiving, and I took advantage of some GREAT SALES.

First of all, my budget amount, or the amount I like to keep it under is $80. and I don't freak out if I spend $100. But in the last month, or more, I haven't spent that much. I have kept it well below that. Well, today I spent right at $100. I know, I know. My husband was astounded himself, but I will show you then tell you what all I got and how much I saved... I have to tell you what all I got because my husband said the picture wasn't very impressive... So, here is the un-impressive picture:

By the way, this picture was taken on my island, and the island is 6 foot long... The groceries go from end-to-end!

Here are some details. In this pic is a Thanksgiving turkey, a whole chicken, 5 gal. milk, 3 1/2 gal. soy milk, 1- 1/2 gal of O.J., 2- 4pk toilet paper, 1- 6 pk toilet paper, 2 roll paper towels, 3-12 pk buns, 1 pkg meatballs, 2 bunches of bananas, 6 pkgs oats, 15 cans of veggies, 8 jars of Ragu, 2 sugars, 2 lrg tubs country crock, 1 pk hot cocoa, 2 sour cream, 2 jars grape jelly, 2 jars strawberry jelly, 5 boxes stuffing, 3 tubes of toothpaste, 4 packages of batteries, 3 bricks of cheese, 3 bags of shredded cheese, 6 pkgs of frozen veggies (Steamers), 2 pkgs Country Gravy mix, 1 pound cake, 2 large jars of apple sauce, 2 cartons of flavored coffee creamer, 1 pkg butterscotch chips, 2 pkgs crescent rolls, 1 pkg microwave popcorn, 2 Coolwhip, 3 pkgs of vanity fair & Dixie plates, 2 pkgs Dixie bowls, 1 cake mix, 1 container corn starch, 1 container baking powder, 6 boxes Progresso Broth, 1 box already cooked bacon, 2 Philly Cream cheese, 3 pkgs of baby cereal, 3 dish scrubbers, & 4 pkgs of hair bands.

For all of this, I spent right at $100. And I saved.... $211.!!! That's my favorite part. Seriously, I could feed my family for a couple weeks, in what I got today. I stocked up on Ragu spaghetti sauce because this doesn't go on sale very often. Well, not this great of a sale ($.33 ea!!!). Same with the canned veggies. I can get these at Aldi's but they can be a little more, actually some of the canned veggies I got for free (the reduced salt kind, at Meijer)! Then my frozen veggies were also free. My crescent rolls were, I think $.05 ea. (Kroger), the dish scrubbers were free (Kroger), the batteries were free (CVS), the toothpaste was free (CVS), sour cream was free (Kroger), 1 lrg package of TP was free, the smaller 2 were $.24, the packages of hair bands were $.47 ea (Kroger), the oats were $.50 ea (Kroger)... oh, I could go on, but I think I'm loosin' some of you....

Anyways, That is my groceries! I think I am going to have to make a run to Butcher Bob's for hamburger this week, so my weekly total may go up, but not by much. They have hamburger for very good prices.

So, what do you think??? Have you done your shopping this week? How did you do?

Looks like you did a great job. Milk can really add to your bill.

If you consider what you've been under lately, you probably are still in budget overall!!

Those pics never do justice... Things get hidden, I'm still trying to figure it out. I thought your pic. was pretty good!!

BTW-remind me to give you soy milk Q next time I see you!
